Arby’s Offers Up Gluten-Free Menu [Updated April 8, 2017]

Over the past few years more & more restaurants have been adding gluten-free menus to their repertoire.  This is a much welcomed change to people who have had to follow the diet for any period of time.  Simply being able to order off of the menu and not bring food in from the outside is a pleasure.

Arby’s is the latest establishment in this explosion of gluten-free menus.  Arby’s has multiple meat items, several salads, drinks & even shakes on the menu.

The French fries and potato cakes are off limits due to cross-contamination issues; sharing the deep fryer with chicken fingers, chicken patties and mozzarella sticks makes them unsafe.

Gluten-Free New Year’s Resolution – Make More Soups and Stews (Recipe for Beef Burgundy)

I have a short New Year’s Resolution list. It’s much the same list that I wrote down last year and the year before. It involves cooking and eating more nutritious foods.

Homemade soups are the most nourishing food I can think of. Enough protein, enough fats of the right sort, lots of vegetables in healthy stocks and broths, rich in nutrients. That’s what soups and stews are made of.

Therefore, my number one New Year’s resolution is to make one big pot of homemade soup or stew each and every week of the new year. Last year I lost focus and fell short of my weekly soup/stew goal, but this first week of the new year, I’m at 100%, starting with a simple gluten-free version of “Beef Burgundy.”

On Christmas Day my son served an amazing Beef Bourguignon for the family. The flavors were rich and earthy. As I listened to him describe his list of ingredients and method of preparation I decided to start the year with an abbreviated, easier version of the classic French Beef Bourguignon recipe, beef burgundy. Here is my first gluten-free stew of the new year.

Gluten-Free Beef Burgundy Recipe

According to our About.com Guide to French Food beef burgundy, or boeuf Bourguignon, is the ultimate slow-cooked comfort food. It is!

The earthy flavors in this simple dish transform run-of-the-mill beef stew into something truly special to be enjoyed with a warm slice of gluten-free bread and a glass of wine. Read More »

Chipotle Mexican Grill Gluten-Free Menu

480px-chipotle_mexican_grill_logo-svg1Chipotle Mexican Grill is a fast food chain with over 2,000 locations in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, and France. The company specializes in tacos and burritos and has released a mission statement called Food with Integrity, which highlights its efforts in using naturally-grown ingredients, and serves more naturally raised meat than any other restaurant chain.

The only gluten-containing food on Chipotle’s menu is their flour tortilla, but according to Chipotle’s website, “If you avoid gluten, don’t eat our flour tortillas. If you are highly sensitive to gluten and would like us to change our gloves, just let us know at the start of your order. You should be aware items containing corn, including corn tortillas (chips, soft corn, and crispy corn tortillas) and corn salsa, may have a small amount of gluten from potentially co-mingling with gluten-containing grains in the field.” Read More »
