June 29th is National Almond Butter Crunch Day. Almond butter is a great way to get that good, healthy fat. There are many varieties of almond butter on the market and most of them are gluten-free.
- Barney Butter
- Maranantha Almond Butter
- Blue Diamond Almond Butter
- Justin’s Almond Butter
- Naturally Nutty Almond butter
- Trader Joe’s Almond Butter
All of the above listed almond butters are very good, but if I had to choose my favorite, I would have to go with Trader Joe’s. Trader Joe’s is not only the least expensive at $4.99/16 oz jar, but it comes in a few varieties – creamy with sea salt, crunchy, unsalted, raw crunchy and raw crunchy unsalted. I love them all!
Almond butter can be used in any recipe in place of peanut butter. It is great on toast, rice cakes, waffles or just eaten out of the jar. Ever dip a raw carrot in almond butter? If not, add that to your list of things to do before you die.
All of the above listed almond butters can be found in the Columbus area. Trader Joe’s is located at Easton or on Sawmill Rd. Raisin Rack carries Barney Butter, Maranantha and Justin’s almond butters. The Hills Market in Worthington carries Naturally Nutty Toffee Almond Butter. Blue Diamond almond butter can be found in most mainstream grocery stores.

I just looked up almond butter at Wal-Mart and the Maranantha brand is sold at Wal-Mart. When I read the description, it said that it is not gluten free.
Barney Butter, according to my digestive, tract isn’t gluten free.
