The Gluten Free Challenge has been issued, and everyone in Kansas City should answer the call. This isn’t a challenge for people who are already members of the gluten free elite, though. The Gluten Free Challenge is for people who eat gluten to experience being gluten free for one weekend.
The Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG) and Pamela’s Products have teamed up to issue The Gluten Free Challenge in honor of Celiac Awareness Month. The idea? Everyone should walk a weekend in a Celiac’s shoes!
Understandably, some people feel isolated when beginning a gluten free diet. So much of our lives revolve around food that it can be lonely to have to say, “I’m sorry, I can’t join you for dinner…”
During the challenge, the weekend of May 22 & 23, participants everywhere will commit to being completely gluten free. This will be a great learning experience. One that will allow people to know both the challenges and the joys of a gluten free lifestyle. If done right, it can also be a time of togetherness. With everyone eating gluten free, we can see a weekend of family dinners the way they used to be.
If you have friends or family members who are interested in accepting The Gluten Free Challenge, they can sign up on the website. Signing up will not only show that they are willing to show a whole new level of support, but will also give them daily recipes and tips. In addition, everyone who signs up for the challenge will be entered into the free product giveaways happening all through the month of May. All participants are invited to share their experiences on the “How’s it Going Blog” and will receive a certificate of completion.
Kansas City businesses can get in on the challenge by offering gluten free specials all during the weekend of May 22 & 23. Any business that chooses to do so is welcome to contact me with their specials so we can let everyone know where the most gluten free friendly places to go in Kansas City will be.
You can easily issue The Gluten Free Challenge to friends and family by clicking “share” at the button of this article and emailing this article to them. (Look for the button with the little envelope on it.) Let’s spread the word!
