One of the most difficult challenges that people with food intolerances (or allergies) face is staying safe while traveling. Finally, someone figured out that there was a huge need for small, individually packaged gluten free food items. They even went a step further and put together both snack and meal packs for those on the go.
comes to our rescue with nutritionally dense meals and snacks that will sustain anyone in need of protein and carbs, when safe food options are not available.
In addition to gluten free options, there are also kosher, vegan and vegetarian choices. They offer products for those with no dietary restrictions as well. Each category is clearly listed on their website and each product is labeled on the front of the box. By clicking on each individual product, you can see every item that comes in that box. Though my primary goal is making sure my food is gluten free, all Go Picnic products don’t contain some other things that I personally try to avoid as well. They are free of MSG, trans fats and artificial flavors and colors. This is great news for health conscious shoppers, with or without dietary restrictions.
When I placed my first order, I chose the Explore Munch and Zesty Munch packs. I wanted to try the but they were out of stock on that item. Everything from Go Picnic is shelf stable so all you need to add is a drink. Since both meals I ordered contained cheese, I was a little wary about how they would hold up without refrigeration.
During a recent vacation in Florida, I put my Go Picnic snacks and meals (two of each) to the test. Luckily, the cheese items hold up great as long as you don’t leave them in a hot car for hours on end. The turkey pepperoni, crackers, dried apricots and mini dark chocolate bar were all fabulous! One box even contains a mini, one of my favorite gluten free energy bars. Though I was not crazy about the strawberry applesauce, my husband was more than happy to eat it. In fact, he quite enjoyed it!
If you’re living gluten free, be sure to give these great new products a try. I’m taking part of my second order (arriving this week) to my in-laws for Memorial Day weekend. We are going on a picnic with kids and I’ll be all set with my own gluten free picnic in a box. Life is good these days for the gluten free set!
Go Picnic is based in the Chicago area so local buyers may pick up their orders and avoid shipping charges. They also offer free shipping on orders of $99 or more.
