Reformulated grilled chicken at Chick-fil-A

Chick-fil-A-logo-big

On April 14, Chick-fil-A introduced new and improved grilled chicken breast and nuggets to its lineup. This new grilled chicken is infused with a smoky taste by marinating it in a blend of sea salt, lemon, garlic, and savory herbs. According to the company, this technique creates a tender, juicy filet with just the right amount of smoky flavor.

According to the company, they spent seven years and more than $50 million to reinvent its grilled chicken recipe. The largest portion of the investment came as the company worked with Garland Grills to create a proprietary grill. This new grill sears the chicken on cast-iron grates like it was cooked on a backyard grill, only faster.

We wanted a grilled chicken recipe that is just as ‘craveable’ as our original Chick-fil-A® Chicken Sandwich.” Read More »

This product update is long overdue and it is just the tip of the ice berg when it comes to new gluten-free product launches in 2014. Expo West is just a few weeks away and I can’t wait to be overwhelmed by gluten-free products. Gluten free is slated once again to be one of the top diet trends in 2014 and that means more gluten-free products are being developed. Hopefully, these new products will trend towards health food and won’t be loaded with fillers, sugar, salt, and artificial color/flavors.

Here is the first new-to-me gluten-free products installment of 2014: Read More »

When I was first diagnosed with celiac disease the first thing I thought about missing was chocolate chip cookies. My grammy made the most incredible chocolate chip cookies and the thought of not being able to eat them made me sad, so I began my quest to make gluten-free chocolate chip cookies just like grammy’s, and I didn’t stop until I succeeded. When Pillsbury introduced their chocolate chip cookie dough, I thought there was no way they could be as good as my grammy’s, but I was wrong. Read More »

Actors, Athletes, News Anchors, and More Follow the Gluten-free Diet

JenniferAnistonWhether people are eating gluten free for medical reasons or non-medical reasons, the plain fact is more and more people are following the examples set by celebrities and athletes who attribute eating gluten free to losing weight and for its ability to increase athletic performance. Whatever the reason, celebrities, athletes, reporters, etc. continue to follow a gluten-free diet, so it is time to update the lists I started back in 2010.

I think it is important to separate out those who are eating gluten free for medical from those who eat gluten free for or non-medical reasons, so there are five lists below: Celebrities with Celiac Disease, Celebrities with non-celiac gluten sensitivity/wheat intolerance, Celebrities who eat gluten free by choice, Athletes with Celiac Disease, and Athletes who eat gluten free by choice. These lists were compiled using multiple sources. Read More »
