Knoxville support group for children and adults with celiac disease to host 3rd annual Gluten Free Vendor Fair

Celi-ACT, a support group for families with one or more members affected by gluten intolerance, is hosting its 3rd annual Gluten Free Vendor Fair on Saturday, March 12, 2011 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m at a new location in the Jacobs Building at Chilhowee Park & Exposition Center in Knoxville.

The event has grown substantially since it was first held in 2009 and is now one of the largest gluten-free events in North America. More than 40 businesses and organizations that cater to those with gluten intolerance are participating in the vendor fair, and speakers at the event will include dietitians as well as pediatric and adult gastroenterologists speaking about gluten allergy challenges and solutions. Many vendors will offer gluten free product samples for participants to take home, there will be lots of gluten free food tasting, and products will be available for purchase for the first time at this 3rd annual event. The fair will also feature a variety of fun children’s activities, including face painting and much more.

Admission is $5 for all attendees, children aged 13 and younger are admitted free, and maximum admission is $20 per family; parking is free. Celi-ACT and the Gluten Free Vendor Fair are sponsored by GI For Kids, PLLC, located at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital in Knoxville.

For more information about the celiac support group Celi-Act (which is Support Chapter #120 of the Celiac Sprue Association) or the Gluten Free Vendor Fair on March 12, contact Alisa Weeks at alisaweeks@comcast.net or visit the support group Web site at http://www.celi-ACT.com and http://www.giforkids.com
