Every day those of us who are gluten intolerant or sensitive need to read labels and ask questions when it comes to food. Gluten pops up in unexpected places that sometimes even shock me, so it is never safe to assume a dish/product is safe. I have previously written about unexpected sources of gluten, so this article serves as a follow up. Read More »

Gluten-Free Foods and Tools to Pack When Traveling Abroad

Mrs. May’s Cashew Crunch is filling and slightly sweet. Photo: Mrs. May’s
When we went on our trip to Europe I wanted to be realistic about what gluten-free foods I brought with me. I didn’t want to be in a situation where I had little to no food options, but I also didn’t want to bring my entire pantry with me, so I managed the situation by packing my favorite ‘staple’ items that did not need refrigeration.
I don’t know about you, but I tend to eat totally differently when I am traveling than I do at home, so I pack items I know will keep me full between meals and in place of meals. I also pack something sweet because that is usually the Read More »

This Examiner was fortunate enough to receive a box of Dr. Schar’s newest product, Honeygrams, to try and review. One of my favorite snacks as a kid was graham crackers topped with peanut butter and I am happy to report that these graham crackers taste better than the wheat-based version of my youth.

Gluten-Free Review: Perfect Foods Bar
The other day I was out with some friends at our local climbing gym. After a few attempts to reach the top, I was feeling worn out and super-duper hungry. Luckily, when I opened the snack fridge, I happened to find these Gluten-Free Energy Bars. I tried the ALMOND BUTTER flavor, which is made with organic almonds and honey, and other healthy ingredients like pumpkin seed oil, flaxseed oil, and dried whole food powders from organic carrots, bell peppers, apples, tomatoes, spinach, and more. It was like nothing I had ever tasted….and definitely, VERY TASTY indeed!
The next week I contacted Perfect Foods Bar company and they sent me Read More »
Friday’s Find: Attune Probiotic Bars
“What matters most is what’s inside.” I love that line from Attune Foods. It’s true about people, and it’s true about food. Attune believes in using pure and simple ingredients that make you feel good from the inside out. So do I. That’s why I love their products. And recently, I’ve tried a new one.
I take a probiotic in capsule form daily. But lately I’ve been eating Attune Probiotic Bars. They are little gluten-free chocolate bars packed with 6.1 billion CFUs of clinically supported strains of probiotics. They come in three different flavors: Milk Chocolate Crisp, Mint Chocolate, and Dark Chocolate.
I expected these probiotic bars to taste like a health bar. But they taste like a bar you’d choose for a treat, not for your tummy! Whenever I can’t believe how delicious something is I give it to the Husband to try. I Read More »

Panera Bread – Summer 2012 Updated Information
After doing some behind-the-scenes work on my blog last week, I noticed that many people find my blog by searching for gluten-free Panera Bread information. Panera Bread has offered gluten-free choices for years, but they have never had any gluten-free baked goods on the menu. I emailed them last week to get the current list of their menu items that are free of gluten and will be sharing them below. Since Panera Bread has predominantly bread items, there is a risk of cross-contamination.

This is the response I received from Panera: Read More »
