What do obesity and multiple sclerosis and Vitamin D have in common?
Inadequate vitamin D levels in the body contribute to both obesity and multiple sclerosis. Both of these conditions involve inflammation, dysbiosis, and leaky gut syndrome.
In MS there is inflammation of nerve tissue while in obesity there is inflammation of fat cells called adipocytes triggered by the ingestion of gluten in susceptible persons. Vitamin d deficiency is a key player. In obesity, replenishing vitamin D reduces visceral fat, the dangerous fat that accumulates around organs. In multiple sclerosis, replenishing vitamin d has a protective effect against the disease.Find out how vitamin D deficiency, a leaky gut and unhealthy gut microbe populations are involved with inflammation of the small intestinal lining to worsen MS and obesity and what you can do to fix this situation. Visit the Health Guide Obesity and Multiple Sclerosispages.

How can one nutrient cause or influence different illnesses?

If the body does not receive the nutrients it needs, it malfunctions. Depending on the genetics of the individual, the deficiency will trigger different symptoms and illnesses. This is why family members can have completely different symptoms.

Tip: Today we see how one nutrient deficiency can affect totally different illnesses. So many seemingly disparate health issues can be easily corrected by identifying and replenishing the missing nutrient through diet and/or supplementation. Find out whether you have related illnesses based on a single nutrient deficiency. Look up your symptoms on our Health Condition Search Page. Each symptom page will tell you whether a nutrient deficiency is the cause. Click the deficiency links to visit the individual deficiency pages. The nutrient deficiency page will list the health problems it causes. You may find your symptoms are due to one or more deficiencies.
