I may be a exaggerating a bit here, but Jules’ flour is a product I {and my mom} are so thankful for. Gluten-Free Pecan Pie Recipe

This gluten free recipe for pecan pie is incredibly sweet and delicious. Don’t be intimidated about making homemade pie crust. A food processor makes the task fast and easy- just keep your butter or shortening chilled and use ice water.

The rich pecan filling is mixed in a blender, making this a fast and easy favorite.

Tip – An 8 or 9-inch tart pan with a removable bottom makes a nice-looking crimped crust and makes cutting pies easy too.

A G-Free Thanksgiving

It takes a little planning ahead to guarantee a great Thanksgiving. In many ways, it’s easier if you’re hosting, because you know what you can and can’t have. Most people hate to impose on their hosts, but it’s easier on you AND your host to ask beforehand than sit through a four-hour meal and watch others eat. Remember, nothing is more important that staying safe!

Turkey:
Though it’s always good to check, the good news is that all plain fresh turkey is naturally gluten free. However, self-basting turkeys usually contain gluten. Most gravy packets are a problem, too. As of 2011, ALL of the companies I called did have gluten-free turkeys, except Tofurky, which has gluten. Check out my gluten-free turkey list for 2011, which has manufacturer contact info.

If you’re not hosting Thanksgiving at your house, talk to your host as soon as you can. You’ll need to talk about:

* Broth used for basting
* Seasonings
* Stuffing in the

Macaroni and cheese is a great comfort food. When I eat it, I remember those days when my mom would surprise us with her baked macaroni and cheese. This wasn’t just any macaroni and cheese, this was the real deal, made from scratch!

Gluten-Free “Very Easy” Crepe Recipe

Sometimes I can be intimidated to cook certain foods, especially new gluten-free dishes. For some reason, I thought crepes would be similar to going into the chem lab. I’m happy to report it can be made just as easily as regular ones! But, my theory behind knowing how to cook, regardless of whether it’s gluten-free or not, holds true. Technique is very important.

The recipe I used was from Gluten-Free Gobsmacked. I really like her simplicity and explanation of each step. See below for my version and additional instructions. Either way, great product.

I can’t wait for my little girl to try them. She made some in camp this week but could only eat a bite as it was made with regular flour. While at camp, she also had a hamburger bun because she thought it was gluten-free; a bit of miscommunication. Poor thing was so itchy last night, it made me sad. Her gluten sensitivity comes out in her skin. I suppose it is this that motivates me to try things.

Gluten-Free Onion Ring Recipe

Deep fried gluten-free onion rings are a real treat! I don’t deep fry often but when I do, I use this recipe and either Vidalia or Walla Walla onions. They’re crunchy delicious.

Prep Time: 6 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 26 minutes

Yield: 4 to 6 servings

Ingredients:

  • 2 sweet yellow onions, preferably Vidalia in season or Walla Walla
  • 1 cup gluten-free all purpose flour mix
