Turnips–definitely not a vegetable I grew up munching on. They are never featured on veggie platters, and definitely do not have shelf space at my local Trader Joe’s. I would be so curious to know if anybody ate turnips, on the regular!?
When Jacque brought me a bag full of fresh dill from her garden, she also threw in some turnips….
Squash and Turkey Bacon Hash on Arugula and Mixed Greens
Squash and turkey bacon hash takes a savory-sweet spin on many of the usual Thanksgiving ingredients – a spin that is tasty and very nutritious! The secret to the development of the flavors is being patient and allowing the ingredie
Bean bakes are the best thing to come my way, foodwise, since I learned that I was not only lactose intolerant and needed to diet but also gluten-sensitive. Seriously.

People will try anything to make their favorite desserts, appetizers, snacks and meals with pumpkin during the fall, but with a gluten allergy or Celiac Disease, enjoying pumpkin pies
To take a load off of your plate for the upcoming Thanksgiving preparation, here is a game plan for a quick and easy side-dish that will absolutely delight the palates of your family and friends.
Guess what I was doing the other day? Browsing Twitter! Imagine that? I was instantly drawn to these Easy Cinnamon Muffins that Jo-Lynne shared. I knew that Jon would love them, so I pre-heated my oven and got down to work.
Jo-Lynne’s recipe is not gluten-free, so I converted it to be gluten-free using Gluten-Free Bisquick. Since the GF Bisquick already has leavening & salt in it, I omitted the baking powder & salt in her recipe. Hindsight says that this may have not been the wisest choice, but the end result was fantastic, so I am not too worried about it. Adding the
Tacos! Drive thru beef and chicken, crunchy or soft may be our most familiar tacos – staples of a fast food diet. But if you’ve never had a fish taco, I content that you’ve never enjoyed the best taco of all.
From South America, across Arizona and up to Alaska, fish tacos are routinely on restaurant menus, even at airports and most home cooks have their very own favorite versions.
Fish tacos, in all their regional variations are a culinary sensation. One you shouldn’t miss out on just because you don’t frequent these locales. They are incredibly easy to make at home.
Gluten-free tortillas are easy to find in local groceries.
This makes constructing a perfectly delicious gluten-free fish taco pretty darned easy in under 30 minutes.
The best fish tacos I have eaten are made with Alaskan halibut or mahi-mahi. Spicy coleslaw and fusion mayonnaise (spicy, often citrus flavored mayo) are the icing on the cake, when it comes to dressing up a fish taco.
Here’s a recipe for my version of gluten-free fish tacos, just in time for Cinco de Mayo. Add a side of homemade guacamole and pico de gallo and be prepared to enjoy. Viva tacos de
Mayonnaise is a kitchen staple that adds rich flavor and binds ingredients in dishes from tuna salad to crab cakes.
If you’ve ever tasted homemade mayonnaise, you know that the rich flavor and silky texture is nothing like what we buy at the grocery store. There are many good reasons to learn how to make homemade mayonnaise, first and foremost because it’s incredibly easy and calls for ingredients that most of us have on hand every day.
4. Quinoa. Buy pre-rinsed quinoa from a company such as Ancient Harvest and save yourself a few minutes in the kitchen.
5. Great gluten-free bread such as Udi’s or Katz’s. Keep it in the freezer for those times when you need to make a sandwich on something that tastes like the “real” thing.
Ever get tired of cooking? Or maybe you live alone and don’t enjoy cooking for one?
One of the best lessons I’ve learned while being gluten-free is that in order to eat the best you possibly can, you’ve got to cook it yourself. You know that gluten-free doesn’t necessarily mean healthy, so you can’t count on just purchasing products to meet the nutritional needs of your body. But I think you already know that, right? (If you don’t, consider one of these options for learning more about being gluten-free AND healthy!)
Though you know you need to cook, I’ve heard the full spectrum of why people get into a rut and feel like they just can’t make cooking a priority. Whether you
