Boston College Business School Team Seeks Special Dietary Needs Information

A team of business school students from Boston College invites the gluten-free community to participate in an important market research survey. The goal is to learn more about consumers with specific dietary needs. The results of the survey will be used to assist in offering detailed recommendations about how to better support the community with unique, high-quality, gluten-free foods. This survey is intended for market research purposes only. Your opinion will be kept confidential. All results will be reported in the aggregate and not as individual entries.

Pamela’s Products and GIG invite you to join the gluten-free challenge

Pamela’s Products is partnering with the Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG) to conduct a Gluten-Free Challenge that will coincide with gluten-free awareness month in May. To raise awareness for celiac disease and gluten sensitivity, the public is invited to eat completely gluten-free for the entire weekend of May 22-23. Participants can register for the challenge beginning April 1, 2009.

Rudi’s announces launch of Rudi’s Gluten-Free Bakery

At Natural Products Expo West last week, Rudi’s Organic Bakery announced it would launch Rudi’s Gluten Free Bakery, further leveraging the company’s long-standing heritage of baking better, great-tasting breads for everyone to enjoy. The new line will include an original sandwich bread, multigrain bread and cinnamon raisin bread, and will be nationally available starting in July 1, 2010.

Dr. Kenneth Fine to lecture at April 18th Atlanta Metro Celiacs Support Group Meeting

Dr. Kenneth Fine will give a lecture on Sunday, April 18th from 3:00pm – 5:00pm at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (at Scottish Rite) in the Main Auditorium. Dr. Fine will be addressing the members of the Atlanta Metro Celiacs, the local adult support group for people on the gluten-free diet.

The topic for Dr. Fine’s lecture is: “The Historic and Current Clash of Man vs. Gluten: Understanding the Gluten Sensitivity Epidemic”. Dr. Fine will describe some of the history and anthropology of how gluten-containing grains became our primary foodstuffs and why it has resulted in so much disease and immune reaction today.

Starbucks adding gluten-free snacks to its menu

On January 12th in participating U.S. Starbucks stores, customers saw a line of new snack options with 220 calories or less per serving. The exciting news about these snacks-on-the-go is that at least 8 of the 9 are gluten-free. These new snacks are:
