That’s right. Dunkin’ Donuts is the latest nationwide chain to try out gluten-free.
According to its website, Dunkin’ Donuts is the world’s leading baking and coffee chain, serving more than 3 million customers per day. Now Dunkin’ Donuts has determined “it’s time to bake the donuts” gluten-free style.
Dunkin’ Donuts is testing gluten-free muffins and donuts in select stores in the Boston and Miami areas. These include blueberry muffins and cinnamon sugar donuts. The products are certified by the Gluten Free Certification Organization (GFCO). The cinnamon sugar donuts sell for less than a dollar each.
The gluten-free donuts have received rave reviews from the Gluten-free South Florida Support Group who posted the following warning on their Facebook page, “Donuts are dangerously delicious!!!! Must try!!!!! ”
Frank Gutenberg, local franchisee commented, “I am a local franchisee who has worked with the brand for two years after my son was diagnosed with celiac disease. We are close but the brand needs to complete all the testing. It will be in other locations soon but for now the initial test is a small test to make sure we do this properly. I am fortunate to have a chance to do this in my Miami stores but hang tight it will hit the broader market in the not too distant future.”
It is encouraging to see Dunkin’ Donuts is taking care in introducing gluten-free products to the market.
What is, er was, your favorite kind of donut??? Are you excited to see Dunkin’ Donuts trying out gluten-free?
