Autism Speaks & Cure Autism Now

In 2006, Autism Speaks and the National Alliance for Autism Research (NAAR) merged, creating the world’s largest autism advocacy organization. Autism Speaks and Cure Autism Now (CAN) announced in November 2006 their intent to merge.
Autism Speaks funded $20 million worth of autism research in 2006 in four categories: Pilot Study Awards, Fellowship Awards, Augmentation and Bridge Awards, and for the first time ever, awards were given for early treatment research. A grant also funded the development of the Interactive Autism Network (IAN) Community Project which will launch in 2007.
Less than a decade ago, autism was typically diagnosed at ages 3 or 4. Through the Autism Speaks-funded Baby Siblings project autism is now routinely diagnosed at 24 months with many diagnosed at 18 months. Early diagnosis leading to early intervention is critical to gain maximum benefit from existing therapiesIn 2006, Autism Speaks and the National Alliance for Autism Research (NAAR) merged, creating the world’s largest autism advocacy organization. Celiac Sprue Association – Georgia, CSA Atlanta Metro Celiacs Chapter 104
Contact:Jim and Patsy Fier

Atlanta Metro Celiacs is local volunteer support group, serving Atlanta, it’s suburbs and North Georgia. The group was formed in September 2006 by the merger of the Gluten Sensitivity Support Group(GSSG) and Celebrate Life #104. Read the letter announcing the merger , Atlanta Metro Celiac announcement letter [Editor:Letter no longer available online. 6/7/2010]. Our membership consists of patients with Celiac Disease and/or Dermatitis Herpetiformis, their families and those exploring if their symptoms are caused by this disease. The primary objective of our group is to offer support and information to those dealing with these chronic illnesses. We are also committed to furthering the awareness of celiac sprue in our region through doctors, dieticians and media.

THe Atlanta Metro Celiac Support Group is chartered under the Celiac Sprue Association (CSA) as a local support group. While we encourage everyone to join CSA, membership in CSA is not a requirement of joining our group. Click on the "Meetings" link in the menu at the right to see a listing and the details about our upcoming meetings.

Counseling and psychotherapy with a proactive, solution-focused, holistic, spiritual orientation. Licensed in NH and NY, I see individual adults, and work towards getting to the core source of the issue, using many tools, including cognitive behavioral therapy, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, relational therapy, supportive listening, and active reflecting.

In private practice since 1998, I incorporate listening for what the body is saying, what the emotions are saying, what the mind is saying, and what the spirit is expressing. Depression, anxiety, transition, relationship issues, career development, and desire to make changes are all seen at this office. I share the office with a masters level clinical nutritionist, and will work hand-in-hand with her recommendations if someone goes to her, often coaching and supporting clients in dietary lifestyle changes.

Payment Options: Some insurances accepted, including some Blue Cross plans, Health Care Value Mgmt, and others. Best to call your member services number on your card first, to see if they would cover "medically necessary psychotherapy treatment" at this office.

Celiac Disease Foundation – Pennsylvania, Celiacs of Eastern PA
Contact:Clare Quigley, M.S. Ed., Founder/ Director

As a connections group of the national Celiac Disease Foundation, Celiacs of Eastern PA (CEPA) is a volunteer organization and support group dedicated to increasing awareness of Celiac Disease (CD) in the Eastern PA area. We are here to serve as an educational guide, but also as a network of support for those with CD and related health issues.

CEPA is a nationally connected Celiac Disease Foundation Connections Group.
We are an experienced, credible source for CD information.
Membership in and support from CEPA are free.
We strongly encourage our members to also become national members of the Celiac Disease Foundation and to support the widespread movement of CD research and education.
Meetings are held at the North Penn Visiting Nurse Association Board Room (on the Central Montgomery Medical Center campus in Lansdale, PA). The directions are available online on the webpage and are the 3rd Wednesdays of every other month at 8 pm, North Penn VNA Boardroom

We are located in friendly Springfield, in the Olde Sproul Shopping Center next to the Outback Restaurant. We serve Delaware County and the Main Line as we are just one block from the Springfield Mall.  Media, Havertown and Broomall have no further to look than here!  Just recently we doubled the size of the store and can now offer so much more of the organic and gluten-free foods and body care we all so much enjoy.

Nancy Muir Nutrition Consulting
Contact:Nancy Muir, M.Ed., R.D.

Nancy offers individual nutrition counseling that is customized to fit the individual’s needs. Before the initial appointment, the client’s three day food records are analyzed to determine dietary adequacies and shortfalls. The individual’s activity expenditure is also considered in order to determine caloric needs. Most clients actually already possess the tools they need to solve their eating challenges, and it is her job to help the client be successful in discovering and implementing solutions to their current dilemmas. Nancy graduated with a B.S. in Dietetics from the University of Tennessee in 1975. She completed her Masters Degree in Exercise Science from Georgia State University in 1980. Her clinical experience in hospitals and in physician offices has enabled her to work with infants, children, teens and adults. She also taught a required nutrition course to community college nursing students. Nancy has practiced nutrition counseling in Virginia since 1993. Diet for gastrointestinal disorders are a particular focus of Nancy’s practice, with Celiac Disease and the Gluten-Free Diet being an area that she considers part of her expertise.

I am Lisa A. Seward, a licensed massage therapist for 19 years from the State of Florida. I am certified BodyTalk practitioner who has been using this modality to bring balance to the body, and clinical experience has shown significant improvements are made, once the body and mind are in homeostasis. It improves the physiology and the psychological functioning throughout the entire system.

I enjoy using this modality on my clients first, then implementing Direct Fascial Release, Shiatsu, Reflexology, and other techniques to the mix. It is a tailored-made system helps each individual become totally aligned to their supportive new posture, grounded and connected to their head and heart.
