Traditional Passover Food Find

Yesterday was the start of Passover. Although I am a catholic girl, and quite honestly know next to nothing about this Jewish holiday, I do know one thing. This is the time of year where you can often find matzo stocked on the shelves of supermarkets.

In elementary school we would always learn about the various traditions of each holiday, and I always looked forward to when my mom would bring home matzo for my brother and me. We would eat it plain, with butter, or my mom’s personal favorite with (more…)


This year Passover is from sundown on March 25 through April 1, which is great news for those who eat gluten free because a number of gluten-free products have started arriving on store shelves that are only available during Passover. Gluten Free Product Review: Gefen Vanilla Wafers

It has finally happened…the gluten-free answer to the vanilla wafer has been discovered and it is the vanilla cookies made by Gefen.  Now for the bad news…they are only available during Passover and they are made in Israel.

Gefen Gluten Free Vanilla CookiesWhile strolling the aisles at a local Super Target we discovered Gefen’s vanilla cookies on clearance for $3.90 per box. What really caught my attention was the Celiac Disease Foundation logo on the box.  The cookies are made from: potato starch, sugar, whole eggs, palm oil and vanilla.  Somehow we just knew they were going to taste amazing and they do.

These cookies remind me of a vanilla wafer crossed with (more…)
