For the 24th year in a row, Nationwide Children’s Hospital will be hosting  the Celiac Conference. The conference is a great place to  mingle, shop and learn more about Celiac Disease and the gluten-free diet.   The conference will take place on Saturday, October 29, 2011 from 7:30 AM  until 4:00 PM.  There will be separate educational tracks for adults, teens & school-age children.

It’s always great when people proactively celebrate and educate others about the gluten free life, and that’s exactly what Penn State’s Celiac Support Group is doing with its 2011 Food Faire.  It’s sure to be a good time with lots of food – if you’re going to be around central Pennsylvania, check it out and tell us about all the fun!  Below is some information on the Food Faire from Heidi Watson, president of the Celiac Support Group.

Gluten Free Allergy Free ExpoThe Gluten Free/Allergy Free Expo is taking place in Lisle, IL April 29th – May 1st.  Jen Cafferty is the founder and director of this event that is the Midwest’s largest gluten-free vendor fair.   More than 70 vendors will be on hand to sample their products.  The vendor fair also features a designated nut-free area, kids’ activities and performers.

An event this large needs a little help, so they are now accepting applications for volunteers.

The Celiac Disease Foundation: Greater Phoenix Chapter will host its 3rd Annual Greater Phoenix Gluten-Free Expo on Saturday, April 16, 2011.  

This event is open to the public and gives people challenged with Celiac Disease, or those interested in transitioning to a gluten-free lifestyle, an opportunity to learn more about gluten-free products and where to purchase those products, as well as learning about local restaurants offering gluten-free menus.  In 2010, over 600 attendees and 37 vendors participated in the expo. This year promises to be even bigger, with an expected 800 guests and 50 vendors.

The expo will be held between 10 am and 2 pm at the following location:

On Sunday, October 10th, 2010, arena football kicker, Craig Pinto, will be kicking field goals for 12 straight hours, from 7:30am-7:30pm, with two goals in mind. First, he will be attempting to set a world record for most field goals kicked within that time frame, by having to make 500 field goals, from 40 yards out, but Craig’s main focus is to raise money and awareness for Celiac Disease.

So excited to report that the upcoming Gluten Free Vendor Fair and Fundraiser in Norcross on September 25th is officially sold out at 70 vendors.  This is the fourth gluten-free vendor fair sponsored by the Atlanta Metro Celiacs and coordinated by this Examiner. 

Even though there is no more room for vendors to demo their products, the Atlanta Metro Celiacs are happy to accept donations for their raffle.  Raffle tickets are sold for $1 each and are a widely popular purchase at the fair.
