It’s official – I’m obsessed with quinoa. I’ve broadened my gluten-free horizons and have started trying out all sorts of recipes with this wonderful grain in the ingredient list! I have the blog Queen of Quinoa in my Google Reader, so I find a lot of great recipes there, including this one!!
I would grill all year-long if I could. This year we had so much crazy snow drifts that it was a bit impossible to do. I love my grill dearly…great flavors, you can grill pretty much anything, its outside with the sun and the fresh air, easy clean up, and less fats are used! We grill steaks, chicken, burgers, hot dogs, hot sausages, shrimp, fish, pizza, and veggies…tons of veggies! Last year I bought one of those little grill baskets for I think $3.00 and it works like a charm, especially for mushrooms.
Last week we got the tank refilled and have used it quite a bit since. We are both trying to get in better shape and eat healthier (a follow-up post to my I’m on a mission…post will appear soon, I promise!). So the grill comes in very handy for (more…)
Are you ready to rock your taste-buds’ world? If you answered that question with a big fat “YES” then I have the recipe for you!
First step, make sure you have some gluten-free gnocchi on hand. Whether you make it yourself, or buy it premade, either will work. I used Cappello’s fresh gluten-free gnocchi for this dish.
Second step – make sure you have the rest of the ingredients for this amazeballs dish (literally, it’s amazeballs because it has two types of balls in it – gnocchi and chicken sausage meatballs).
I have this strange habit. I sign up for a challenge, accomplish it, and then stop. Cold turkey.
On Memorial Day weekend, I ran a marathon. A FULL marathon. My FIRST marathon. That was FOUR months ago. I saw an advertisement on TV for Hellmann’s Mayonnaise with this recipe. Whilst it sounded, let’s say interesting, I was intrigued and had to try it.
The first time I tried this recipe I bought some gluten free rice crumbs but I found them too crunchy with an almost sand type texture. The next time I cooked this recipe I therefore made my own breadcrumbs by blending a piece of frozen gluten free bread. It turned out really well, the chicken was very tender and it tasted awesome served with cornmeal mash (cornmeal mixed with milk and cheese) and stir fried vegetables.
While there are a plethora of places to dine out gluten-free in the Columbus area, there is nothing like the convenience of being able to stay home and prepare your own meal. When I found that I could buy the San-J Thai peanut sauce in local stores, I began to use it in many dishes. One of my favorite dishes to date is this very easy Thai Peanut Chicken and Noodles.
I just want you to know that I don’t know and don’t claim to know how to cook everything. Some things I’m not interested in and some things…well, intimidate even me. I suppose the biggest factor in trying something new is giving myself enough time to fiddle with it and being able to live if it’s not 100% successful.
I’ve come to know Jeff Larsen who also teaches gluten-free cooking classes in the SF bay area. There are some things we do which are very similar and some things we do differently. Either way, there’s a language we both speak and it’s been a pleasure getting to know him. I mention him because he teaches a number of classes around Asian cooking, specifically dumplings. Summer is coming and fresh vegetables — in the stores, at the farmer’s markets and in your garden — will be plentiful. It’s time for summer salads.
Try this delicious salad as a side dish or even as a main. It’s light and satisfying.
Use the ingredients list as a guide. If you don’t have peppers, use what is on hand. If you don’t like cilantro, it’s fine not to use it at all; many people don’t like it. Use any lettuce, even finely sliced cabbage. See the tip below for how to make your red onion a little mellower. Tacos! Drive thru beef and chicken, crunchy or soft may be our most familiar tacos – staples of a fast food diet. But if you’ve never had a fish taco, I content that you’ve never enjoyed the best taco of all. From South America, across Arizona and up to Alaska, fish tacos are routinely on restaurant menus, even at airports and most home cooks have their very own favorite versions.
Fish tacos, in all their regional variations are a culinary sensation.One you shouldn’t miss out on just because you don’t frequent these locales. They are incredibly easy to make at home.
Gluten-free tortillas are easy to find in local groceries. This makes constructing a perfectly delicious gluten-free fish taco pretty darned easy in under 30 minutes. The best fish tacos I have eaten are made with Alaskan halibut or mahi-mahi. Spicy coleslaw and fusion mayonnaise (spicy, often citrus flavored mayo) are the icing on the cake, when it comes to dressing up a fish taco.
