I don’t care what you think about her life choices, lack of shoes, or all-around confusing actions, Britney Spears basically made a soundtrack that speaks to my journey with the gluten-free diet.
Annnnnd here we go:
Toxic
When you have come to the realization that gluten is toxic for your body, but you still have a deep, passionate love for it. It’s like that bad boy you know isn’t good for you, but you can’t help the fact that you are so attracted to it.
Baby One More Time
Within the first few months of the diet you want just one more slice of pizza, one more piece of cake, one more fried chicken wing…
This feeling lasts for a while, and you give in to your long for said items.
Oops!…I Did It Again
You gave into your cravings just one more time, but it was a big ‘Oops’ as you suffered the consequences. You are reminded of this mistake for hours, or even days, after it is made. You tell yourself that this definitely won’t happen again.
Stronger
You are getting used to the gluten-free diet and are starting to feel healthier and stronger as a result. You aren’t really THAT sad about not eating gluten anymore because you know the decision to go on a gluten-free diet was a smart one. You’re way better off without it.
Radar
Gluten is always on your radar, and you constantly check out ingredients lists and ask several questions when dining at a restaurant. You notice all of the gluten-freetags at the grocery store, and your ears perk up whenever you hear those two words spoken aloud.
Til The World Ends
The gluten-free diet is a lifelong thing for you, and you will be on it till you’re last dying breath. People that aren’t gluten-free make remarks about the restrictions of the diet, and say how horrible it must be, but you reassure them that you are perfectly happy with your lifestyle. You know you will continue to eat this way up until your last meal…or until the world ends, either one.
Does Britney speak to your gluten-free journey? What song are you currently playing?
