Here we are at the end of another week filled with the promise of Fall weather just around the corner. This Examiner is busy planning the Gluten Intolerance Group of Atlanta’s upcoming Gluten Free Vendor Fair and Fundraiser on October 22nd at the Hilton Hotel in Norcross, but there is always time to share what gluten-free information she has learned for the week.
Freedom Food Tropico’s cereal is about to be available on Amazon.com. This cereal is a gluten-free version of Fruit Loops, but without the artificial colors/dyes and corn syrup. It is free from gluten, wheat, nuts, soy, sesame, dairy and eggs and it is fortified with vitamins and minerals.
Hail Merry Snacks – are on sale nationally at Whole Foods and other natural food stores. Stock up now on these fabulous fall prices! Tarts are 2 for $7!! Small bags of nuts are 2 for $4! All of our products are certified gluten-free by GFCO and contain NO REFINED SUGARS. You can also find them at Amazon.com.
Jenny’s Bakehouse (Austin TX) Gluten Free Products NOT Gluten- Free! – GIG tested the products in house and sent the products to an outside lab for further testing. Both products tested positive for gluten using r-5 and G12 Elisa testing methods in the test performed by GIG and the test performed by the lab. The lab test showed that both products tested as having gluten in excess of 10,000 ppm (parts per million).
Sami’s Bakery (Tampa, FL) – has a line of gluten-free products with spotty testing results. This bakery also produces gluten-based products, so there is a possibility of cross contamination. This Examiner would advise people to stop purchasing the gluten-free products from Sami’s until they have established safe handling procedures.
