Peanut Flour - Gluten Free and Healthy

Peanut flour is gluten-free.  It is simply roasted peanuts ground up into a flour.  No other ingredients are added.

Since peanuts are gluten-free, peanut flour is a great choice to use for baking.

Peanut flour can also be used in smoothies, added to yogurt or to thicken sauces & soups.

To see an example of how to use peanut flour, make sure to check out this recipe for Chocolate Chip Pan Cookies used as the base for ice cream sandwiches.

Peanut flour is lower in carbohydrates than other gluten-free flours, such as potato starch, tapioca starch or rice flour, so it would work nicely for those trying to watch their carbohydrate intake.

Peanut flour can be found at Trader Joe’s in their baking aisle.  There are two Trader Joe’s locations in the Columbus area – one is located on Sawmill Rd in Dublin and the other is located at Easton.

Trader Joe’s carrie a multitude of gluten-free products in their stores.  For a complete, up-to-date list, click here and then on the icon at the bottom that says “no gluten”.

  1. I never thought of using peanut flour in milkshakes or even thickening soups an sauces for that matter. I tend to be pretty traditional and stick to cornstarch but after reading this I think I will be adding peanut flour on my next run to the grocery store.

    Angie.

  2. I will too. I have a recipe for peanut butter vegetable soup I’ve loved for years. I get sick of corn starch, and corn in general. This I will have to use.

  3. I have a *fantastic* all-purpose flour mix that hasn’t failed me in ANY recipe yet! Great texture and keeps things fairly inexpensive!

4c brown or white rice flour
1 1/3c potato starch (not flour)
    2/3c tapioca starch
