Calling All Volunteers…Gluten-free Camps Need You

Gluten Free CampsThis is the time of year when parents are planning their summer activities and for those kids on the gluten-free diet those plans include attending a gluten-free camp.  There are a number of gluten-free camps out there who are in need of volunteers to perform a variety of tasks.  

They camps lists below are looking for volunteers to work six hour shifts in the kitchen.  If you are interested in helping make this a great time for our celiac kids send an email to gigcamp@gluten.net with your name, contact information and the day(s) available help out at the following locations:

  • Camp Sealth

Vashon Island, Washington

Session 4: July 20 – 25, 2011

Session 5: July 26 – 29, 2011

Session 4/5: July 20 – July 29, 2011

  • Camp Kanata

Wake Forest, North Carolina

August 7-13, 2011

Our local camp for kids on the gluten-free diet, Camp Weekaneatit, is also in need of volunteers to perform a variety of tasks.  Camp Weekaneatit is held at Camp Twin Lakes Will-A-Way in Winder, Georgia from May 28th – June 3rd.  As a volunteer at camp you will:

• Have an experience to add to your RESUME
• Have a valuable educational experience
• Experience a great sense of helping others
• Develop leadership skills
• Make Life-time friends

Anyone interested in volunteering for camp should contact: Jill Waddell at jhwaddell@bellsouth.net, or via phone at 770-312-9722. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and will be contacted directly by Jill to schedule an interview.  All expenses are covered by camp.
