Gluten Free Snyder’s of Hanover pretzels hit the mainstream

Snyder's Gluten Free Pretzel Sticks

It’s always nice when you can find gluten free products in a “normal” grocery store; it’s downright exciting when a favorite regular-food brand puts out a gluten free food.  Such is the case with Snyder’s of Hanover’s new Gluten Free Pretzel Sticks.  After a couple of hiccups in getting the GF ball rolling, Snyder’s new pretzel sticks have been certified by the GFCO (Gluten Free Certification Organization) and each bag clearly shows the GIG (Gluten Intolerance Group) seal of approval.  According to GFCO, their goals is to provide “a uniform system, using strict standards to certify a product gluten-free and enables people to easily identify GF foods with confidence.”

I found my pretzels this week at the Wegman’s in Collegeville, where they were on sale for 2.99 each. This is a far cry from the price of some other gluten free pretzels out there, at 5.99 or even 8.99 a bag.  It is the hope of many of us in the GF community that as more and more retailers produce gluten free products, pricing will become more competitive.

Snyder’s of Hanover’s Gluten Free Pretzel Sticks were excellent.  They tasted exactly like a pretzel stick should taste: crispy, salty, and with a nice crunch.  They’re firm enough to dip in peanut butter or ice cream (or whatever you like to dip your pretzels into), but great on their own.

Snyder’s of Hanover is located in Hanover, PA.  The new gluten free pretzel sticks are available at area Wegman’s and Whole Foods.  They should be available in major grocery stores nationwide throughout the summer.

  1. I had no idea. I have NOT seen these in stores here. I was not looking but I will now that I know to look for them.

  2. I just got these the other day, and they are so good! They don’t really taste much different from regular pretzels (if you gave me a mix of each, I’m not sure I’d be able to tell)…and in fact, I might even venture to say that they taste better!
